    What's the best way to transfer a drawing on to the board?

    you could use transfer paper (like carbon paper). The sell it at Joann's and it comes a couple of colors in the pack.

    I don't think the solvent transfer from a photocopy would be a good idea as it might stain the wood.

    You could probably try to flip the image over and burnish it onto the board if it's done in pencil. the graphite might transfer.
